Team spirit is a major focus for the program

All students from Prep to Year 6 are involved in Primary Sport. The students are exposed to a range of sporting activities where the emphasis is on maximum participation and striving to achieve their own personal best. The foundation of the sporting program is to strike a healthy balance of competition and having fun. Team spirit is a major focus for the program and students are encouraged to support each other.

Weekly Sport

In Prep to Year 2 the students are involved in a weekly sport program. The activities are structured so that students can practise skills learnt during Physical Education in a games context.

Students in Years 3 to 6 participate in a weekly sport program where they are introduced to the major sports. Students are encouraged to try all of the sports on offer, under the guidance of class teachers and the Physical Education teacher.

House Competitions

Every child is involved in the House Sports program. There are four houses at the School: Athelstane, Lincoln, Thoresby and Sherwood. Competitions are held throughout the year in netball, Australian Rules football, rounders, Cross Country running, athletics and swimming. The children enjoy the experience of belonging to a house and cheering for their team.

Victorian Primary Schools Sports Association (VPSSA)

This competition is with the local Primary schools and involves children from Years 4 to 6. It begins with a Round Robin at our school at the end of Term 1. Ten local Primary schools join with our children to compete in rounders, Australian Rules football, and netball. It is always a fun competition and a great opportunity for our children to meet with their friends from other schools. In term 2 the children begin the Inter-school season competing in these sports on a weekly basis. Students also compete in swimming, Cross Country running and athletics as part of the VPSSA.

Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria (AGSV)

The School is a member of the Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria. Consequently, students also participate in some sporting activities with other Grammar schools. In an environment of healthy competition the students participate in swimming, Cross Country running and athletics.
