Year 9 e-Commerce Day

26 May 2009

Ivanhoe Grammar School welcomed two very special guest speakers from Apple Computers and the Ethical Consumer Group as part of its new Year 9 out-of-classroom program called ‘After 9’.

On Thursday 21 May, students in Year 9 participated in a module focusing on e-commerce which included learning about business principles such as marketing and ethics and working with the internet safely.

The guest speakers were Mr Gerasimos Grammenos from Apple who engaged the students in an exercise in which they tested and reviewed various Apple products and Mr Nick Ray from the Ethical Consumer Group who gave insight into how local buying behaviour impacts the globe.

The purpose of the After 9 program is to give students a practical idea of various career options available to them after they finish school so that they have a better idea of which path they wish to pursue.

This is part of the overall Year 9 out of classroom learning experience that includes working on a sustainability project at La Trobe university using the university resources and professors and delving into our urban environment at our off-campus site in Richmond.
